The award-winning AltiumT M platform from Stratex Networks represents the most comprehensive h i g h - performance, high-speed wireless solutions available on the market. Off e red for SDH and SONET broadband applications, Altium was the first synchronous microwave radio solution to provide capacities from single to multiple 155 Mbps data channels using 128 QAM modulation across the full 6-38 GHzf requency range. The Altium platform now provides capacity options up to a total transport capability of 622 Mbps, uniquely combining ultra-high-capacity and high-bandwidth efficiency in a single radio platform. The Altium platform, released in 1999 and shipped in volume ever since, has been delivered to customers worldwide in a wide variety of applications and conditions, providing an effective backhaul solution for both cellular infrastructure and for fixed wireless networks, or as an alternative to fiber for last-mile access. The Altium product family offers the following compelling advantages: • Broadest Frequency Coverage  The Altium product platform extends from 6 to 38 GHz, providing a common indoor/outdoor architecture and operating system software across the full frequency range, covering both trunk and access applications. • Compact, Split-mount Architecture in All Bands  Altium radios are available with a split Indoor Unit/Outdoor Unit architecture, with a simple coaxial cable connection that enables rapid and cost-effective installation and commissioning. • High Frequency Efficiency Altium pioneered the use of high-efficiency 128 QAM modulation techniques in all frequency bands upto 38 GHz, and continues to provide the capability to transmit high speed data in the minimum of occupied bandwidth, saving on spectrum costs and conserving valuable frequency resources. • Data Compatibility With fully transparent payload architectures, Altium radios provide full compatibility and superior error performance for the transport of ATM and IP, even under the most demanding conditions, with fiberlevel availability and performance. • End-to-end Network Management Using SNMP Through SNMP, customers benefit from end-to-end visibility of their networks and full compatibility with Stratex Networks’ advanced ProVisionTM Network Management System. • Built-in, Web-based Commissioning and Maintenance Altium’s advanced Web-based Maintenance Tool (WMT) provides an intuitive user interface that offers simple control of configuration settings, software download, monitoring and reporting of status, performance, and alarms, and the ability to change protection settings—either locally or from any point within the network using TCP/IP connectivity. • Full Standards Compliance Like all Stratex Networks products, Altium is fully compliant with applicable ETSI, ITU, FCC and Bellcore standards and specifications. Altium is type-approved for deployment in more than 40 countries worldwide. Fully accredited test reports and regulatory certification are available upon request. With volume capacity capability, proven performance in numerous networks and applications worldwide, and widespread regulatory approvals, Altium is the leading synchronous radio platform in today’s market, providing extremely reliable, high-capacity connections as a smart alternative to the expense and inconvenience of leased lines or fiber infrastructure. System Overview IDU Architecture The Altium IDU architecture consists of a single, frequency-independent unit with a modular design. Signal processing and modem functions are perf o rm e d on a single card (two cards for protected/diversity systems), while system monitoring, control, and SNMP management interfaces are provided on a supervisory card. A third module contains redundant fans that provide cooling of the IDU assembly. All modules are field-replaceable and can be hotswapped without affecting traffic. IDU options are available for 1x155 Mbps in a 3RU format. ODU Architecture Outdoors, the Altium ODU is also optimized for protected applications, with a single enclosure providing support for all configurations. Directly mounted behind the antenna at all frequencies to minimize waveguide losses and costs, the ODU consists of removable modules, enabling simple replacement. An integrated RF Plug-in (two plug-ins for protected/diversity systems) contains all synthesizer, frequency conversion, and amplifier functions for both the transmit and receive signal paths. An ODU supervisory card controls all ODU functions and communicates ODU status and control to the IDU. The ODU enclosure is double-sealed for enhanced resistance to both the elements and electromagnetic interference . Management and Deployment Features Deployment and maintenance of the Altium are further enhanced by a unique Web Browser-based Maintenance Tool. Installation is simplified by a standard co-axial connection between the IDU and ODU. Altium also provides a fully transparent payload, guaranteeing seamless interoperability with all types of data, such as SDH, SONET, ATM or IP. Built-in forw a rd error correction and adaptive equalization correct the effects of signal interference, ensuring fiber-like link perf o rmance and availability. In addition, the space diversity option allows link lengths in excess of 60 km even in the most demanding environments . Altium provides unmatched choices in terms of frequency coverage and capacity options, with proven deployments worldwide and immediate availability. SEE also: http://www.belam.lv/index.php?id=284
